The FAMOUS Angela Merkel’s maiden name was Kasner, she grew up in East Germany and ABBA would not have been around when she was 15. I wonder what this Angela Merkel is up to now?

Merkel is the surname of her first husband and she retained this after the divorce. She’s now married to Joachim Staubel. She was raised in Templin in East Germany – not Augsberg. So you’re wrong on two counts.

It’s Augsburg, a lovely town in Bavaria, there no such place as Augsberg in the whole of Germany. I know, finicky, but you asked for it.

Kasner is a Jewish name. Her mother was Herlind Jentzsch – not sure if this is Jewish though. Banking interests and connections anyone?

This is an interesting article on Angela Merkel’s background. I’m afraid I can’t vouch for the truth of the text, but it certainly reflects ideas on Merkel I heard from various sources when I lived in the former East Germany about a decade ago.
This young German girl wants “Federkrieg” – literally translated as Pen WAR ! Hmmm …

Anywho, I was just talking about pen pals the other day, how we were forced to write to people in school, now you’d just facebook them, like one comment they put up a month, and you’d have a fre place to crash when you go on holiday.
